On a roll

The original Czech version of the worldfamous song Roll out the Barrel will be performed for the first time for many years in Britain at a concert on April 17. Josef Vejvoda, son of the composer Jaromír Vejvoda, will be conducting the performance by the Trinity Concert Band (Reading), one of the leading wind bands in the South of England. The concert will take place at the Bearwood Theatre, in the grounds of Bearwood College at Winnersh, east of Reading. The whole programme will have a decidedly Czech flavour, with Josef conducting four pieces (two by his father, one of his own äs well äs the populär Slavonicka Polka. During his time in Britain, Josef will stay with members of the Kmoch European Bands Society (KEBS), which helped to arrange his visit.
