Josef Vejvoda is bound up with a hundred-and-fifty-year musical family tradition. In 1995 he founded the SALON ORCHESTRA. With this orchestras he has performed on television, at concerts, and made recordings.
Josef Vejvoda's Salon Orchestra had its premier on 27 March 1995 in Prague at Zofin. The first recording of this orchestra is names "When They Played at Zamecka" and was christened right at Zofin at a concert celebrating the birthday of Jaromir Vejvoda which he did not live to see. The Salon Orchestra--it, in addition to the clear tones of the brass instruments, the fine-sounding flute and warm tones of the clarinets or saxophones, was mainly the tender tones of bows, the sonorous voice of the accordion, and accompaniment which equalizes the voices of the piano, drums, and bass.
That is the way Vejvoda's Orchestra is characterized by Slavek Ostrezi--in his sleeve note for the CD WHEN THEY PLAYED AT ZAMECKA.
