The NOVELTY CONCERTO - platinum record [2005-11-07]
The NOVELTY CONCERTO, Mr Josef Vejvoda's latest jazz-influenced serious composition, was also a title of a series of 12 extraordinary concerts, premiered in twelve Czech and Moravian cities jointly by the Severočeská filharmonie Teplice, conducted by Josef Koutník, the soloist and violin virtuoso Josef Šporcl, and the Josef Vejvoda Jazz Trio. After the final NOVELTY CONCERTO on 5th of November, 2005, performed at the beautiful neo-renaissance Prague's Rudolfinum, the concert hall audience rewarded Mr. Vejvoda with standing ovations, while at the same time the Supraphon record company presented him with platinum record. An unforgettable occasion, as well as another milestone in the history of the Czech contemporary music.

Josef Vejvoda appeared 16.5.2005 in the Kolín Theatre as guest conductor with the Large Wind Band from the village of Dolní Chvatliny.

The 24th Spring concert in Langau [2005-04-06]
2nd of April, 2005, Josef Vejvoda was invited by Musikkapelle LANGAU to be a guest conductor during the 24th Spring concert in Langau, Austria. Among the works conducted by Josef Vejvoda was his latest composition, "Chanson for violin and large wind orchestra." Violinist Jitka Kubkova was a featured soloist.


103rd anniversary of Jaromir Vejvoda's birth [2005-04-05]
To mark 103rd anniversary of Jaromir Vejvoda's birth, the VEJVODA BAND, - conducted by Josef Vejvoda, - gave a performance Friday, 25th of March 2005, at Jiri Srnec' Black Theatre in Zbraslav. Singing were Jiri Skvara, Blanka Tumova and Alena Rychetska.

During the concert, Jaromir Vejvoda Jr gave a guest performance.

Vejvoda's band and Salon orchestra [2004-11-22]
The Vejvoda Band and Josef Vejvoda's Salon Orchestra will appear in a programme on the ARD German television channel called "Zauberhafte Heimat (Enchanting Homeland) - Prague". Josef Vejvoda will be heard in conversation with the presenter and singer Gunther Emmerlich, and the former German foreign minister Hans-Dietrich Genscher. The programme is to be broadcast on ARD at 20.15 on the 6th December 2004.

A MEETING WITH SONJA AND THOMAS BATA [2004-09-25]
Prague, September 16, 2004: Josef Vejvoda and his Trio have performed in front of Mr and Mrs Bata at "Bata's House", Wenceslas Square No.6, in celebration of Mr Thomas Bata's 90th birthday.
Following the concert, these successful sons of two of the most famous Czech personalities have met, as Mr Vejvoda Jr have presented Mr Bata Jr with some mementos of this occasion.

A new CD by Josef Vejvoda's Salon Orchestra will shortly be released by Josef's own publishing company. The contents comprise pieces by Josef Vejvoda (3), Jaromír Vejvoda (6, including swing and original versions of the "Beer Barrel Polka"), Josef Poncar (2), and one composition by each of the following composers: Richard Jurist, Josef Stelibský, Eman Fiala, Leopold Korbař, Václav Bláha, Jiří Traxler, Frank Churchill and Karel Vacek.


Josef Vejvoda and Trinity Concert Band [2004-08-17]
Josef Vejvoda, son of the composer Jaromir Vejvoda, was on 17th April conducting the performance by the Trinity Concert
Band (Reading) which is one of the leading wind bands in the South of England. The concert was take place at the superb Bearwood Theatre, situated in the lovely grounds of Bearwood College at Winnersh, east of Reading.

At the end of September another Vejvoda's Zbraslav Music Festival took place. The sponsor of the festival is the Zbraslav Cultural Society, the City District of Zbraslav, and the sons of Jaromír Vejvoda. The festival was undertaken under the sponsorship and the financial support of the Municipal Authorities of the Capital City of Prague. 18. - 19. 7. 2003 - Bechyne Castle-1. The Jazz Festival "Jazz Festival in the Park." The opening concert was played by the Josef Vejvoda Trio: Krystov Marek-piano, Ondrej Stajnochr-string bass, and Josef Vejvoda-drums. Primarily compositions of the latest album One Minute Dance were heard at the concert.

Josef Vejvoda was a guest at the "Dačice Orchestra Festival" on the 7th and 8th of June. The program also boasted two of Josef Vejvoda`s compositions: "Pochod 2000" [March 2000], and the polka "Jak zamlada" [When We Were Young], which the composer directed at a Superconcert.



New album: I Remember Love [2003-06-07]
In Germany there came out a new album with the title I Remember Love. B. Bailey granted [us] a long conversation about the single album for the magazine Jazz Podium 7/8.03.

The Josef Vejvoda Trio performed with the Northern Bohemian Philharmonic at Teplice. Among other things, two of Josef Vejvoda's compositions were heard: "Monika"--trombone solo by Přemek Tomšíček, "Audes"--piano solo by Kryštof Marek

Other compositions were presented by Clarinetist Petr Kašpar. The Philharmonic was directed by Charles Oliveri-Munroe

Among other things at the concert, Josef Vejvoda's comosition "AUDES" was heard. It was dedicated to the excellent baritone saxophone player Josef Audes. The piano solo was by Kryštof Marek
