Someone once told me that music is the voice of God. When I hear your salon orchestra playing all these old favorites, the songs my parents and grandparents would play and sing, with the beautiful vocal arrangements, the delicate, rhythmic phrasing of the strings, piccolos, horns and drums. Well, it's as if we are truly together again. My mother had a beautiful singing voice and in your music I can hear her once again, singing to me, wiping away the tears from a childhood injury or illness. I cannot tell you how much love flows from your music, it is incredible.
I am 59 years old. My father played Czech music on his concertina all of his life. When I was 6 yrs old, he taught me how to play the drums to accompany him. We were amateur musicians, living on a small farm in Illinois, south of Chicago, but we played at dance halls, taverns, in picnic groves and at family gatherings. After I went on to college, my mother and father sold the farm and moved back to Chicago. He spent the next 20 years transposing and arranging music, inviting other musicians who played the saxophone, violin, trumpet or concertina to join him. So I have a small appreciation of what it must have been like for you to have grown up listening to your father's orchestra. What magnificent music Jaromir Vejvoda has given to the world!!
I have never lost my love for this music. I can feel every note, and still have a special appreciation for the drums. Please count me as one of your most enthusiastic fans. I have an appreciation for all types of music and was very pleased with the short pieces "One Minute Dance", "Ahimsa" and "Super Jet".
I now live in a small community in Pittsburgh. Each year in April, we schedule a night at a restaurant where we have an ethnic festival, prepare food and celebrate a different heritage. In the past, we have celebrated Italian, French, Spanish, Costa Rican, Ugandan, and Greek Food. This coming April we will be celebrating Czech Night. I would like to play some of your CD's to show them what the flower of Czech music sounds like! One song I have been unable to obtain is the Czech National Anthem, played by a salon orchestra. Have you ever recorded "Kde Domov Muj?" I would love to play this song for my neighbors on Czech night. It would bring the room to tears.
Once again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to express what a pleasure it is to hear your music. You are a beloved artist in your country and in the world.
I sincerely hope you have many years left to share your wonderful music with the world.
Djekuji mnohokrat
